Henry Stone
Writer/Director/Producer
Bio
Henry Stone is a writer, director and producer known for creating stylish and surprising screen comedy. Most recently, he directed the upcoming sketch series, Urzila (Warner Brothers / ABC) and Aaron Chen’s Netflix comedy special, Funny Garden, which made Netflix’s top 5 in its debut week. His 16 minute short film, Mr Adidos (starring Nash Edgerton), screened in competition at Palm Springs International ShortFest and at the Sydney and Melbourne Film Festivals in 2026.
His docu-hybrid show A Life in Questions with Aaron Chen was produced for Max in the US under the Adult Swim banner and won him a Best Director ADG Award. In 2025, he wrote, directed and produced the Furore sketch for Tony Armstrong, which amassed two million views in two days, and his scripted comedy Fancy Boy for the ABC earned him an AWG Award for Best Sketch Show. Stone’s short film The 2IC, starring Sam Campbell and Greg Larsen, was nominated for Best Australian Short Film at the 2023 Sydney Film Festival, and in the same year he was nominated for an AACTA Award for Best Director.
Henry’s work blends lyrical visuals, explorative performances and absurdist humour – often exploring delusion, millennial fragility, and regional weirdos. He began his career as the co-founder of the sketch group Skills in Time with Sam Campbell and Greg Larsen, and was a core member of the Golden Gibbo–winning ensemble Fancy Boy. He has directed Becky Lucas and Cameron James in their ABC pilot BYOB and their Comedy Central series Share This. He has also directed stand-up specials for comedians including Campbell, Chen, Melanie Bracewell and Tom Cashman, and is a writer for Taskmaster AU on Paramount+ and Network 10. Henry is currently developing two original sitcoms — a rural mockumentary set in a cane farming micronation, and a millennial heist comedy set in the world of luxury Airbnb.
