Toby is a 2023 NIDA graduate with a Batchelor of Fine Arts in Acting.  His NIDA theatre credits include Macbeth (dir: Philip Quast), Festen (dir:  Clara Voda), Sweeney Todd (dir: Constantine Costi), A Very Expensive Poison (dir: Hannah Goodwin) and Gloria (dir: Nigel Turner-Carrol).  Since graduating Toby has been cast in the STAN series, Black Snow 2 in the main cast role of Constable Thorpe (dir: Sian Davies); as well as Mehhma Malhi’s wonderful stage production of The Boys (KXT Broadway), the Australian Opera production of Il Tabarro /Il Trittico (dir: Constantine Costi), and Clara Voda’s production of Dear Elena Sergeevna at The Old Fitz Theatre.   Most recently Toby has been seen in Tonsils & Tweezers (dir: Lucy Rossen) at The Old Fitz Theatre with his performance in the show receiving strong reviews, including:  Toby Carey is deadpan funny in the role of Max, the former “fountain boy” now nursing dreams of becoming a stage actor (Limelight);  Carey brings a grounding presence and a contrast to the heightened, emotionally charged Tonsils and Tweezers (Stage Whispers); and (Cultural Binge) … Carey delivered a layered performance alive with subtext.
